Do You Need a Breakthrough to What’s Best?

We all want to see a change, whether it’s a change in our personal lives or in a challenge that we face. We all want a breakthrough to what is best.

I’ve been with Christians who confess that they will have a breakthrough, who petition God for a breakthrough, and who eagerly anticipate a breakthrough. We sing and say that He’s the God of the breakthrough, and He is. His power is unlimited. But what do we need to do to receive a breakthrough? We need to understand the following thoughts.

There is no breakthrough without repentance.

Repentance from arrogance, pride, stubbornness, and an unwillingness to pursue the plan of God. See James 4.

There is no breakthrough without restoration.

Restoration of relationship and fellowship, of worship and a commitment to time in his presence. See Hebrews 10:19-25.

There is no breakthrough without obedience.

Obedience to His call, submission to His will in every area of life with a focus of living a life that is worthy of Him. See Ephesians 4:1-3; 5:1-2.

It’s easy to make the breakthrough fully God’s responsibility. Instead, let’s do the hard thing and examine ourselves. Have we been putting the obligation on God and requiring Him to give a breakthrough, when in fact we have been the ones who have restrained the breakthrough that He’s already provided through Jesus Christ?

Paul wrote, “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of Him in every place.” 2 Corinthians 2:14 (NASB)

So whether you’re facing a huge challenge or you just want to see God’s best happening in your life, stop and look at where you are in your relationship with Him. You can make any necessary shift and put yourself in the position to receive.
